Indian Air Force Group X & Y selection process is shared below:

Phase I: Online Test:
The online test of Indian Air Force Group X comprises of a total of 70 Questions of one mark each with duration 60 minutes. The Group Y Paper comprises of a total of 50 Questions of one mark each with a duration of 45 minutes.
The candidates who appear for both Group X & Y need to appear for a paper which consists of a total of 100 questions, the total time duration is 85 minutes.

In order to get to the subsequent stage, candidates need to clear cut off in each paper separately.
After clearing the Phase I, which is an online test, a cut off marks will be decided by the CASB and based on that, candidates will be shortlisted for the Phase II of the selection of Indian Air Force Group X & Y.
Phase II of the Indian Air Force Selection Process will be conducted at the Airmen Selection Centre. Here is a list of 14 Airmen Selection Centres:

Candidates who pass the Online Test and are selected on a specified date on the CASB Web Portal www.airmenselection.cdac.in will be called on designated Airmen Selection Center for Physical Fitness Test (PFT) consisting of 1.6 kilometers to be finished within 06 minutes and 30 seconds.
Candidates will also have to complete a minimum of 10 push-ups, 10 sit-ups and 20 squats for qualifying in the Physical Fitness Test within the specified moment.
Note: It is recommended that candidates take their sports shoes and shorts/track pants.
Adaptability Test 1: (Applicable for both Group X & Y):
All applicants who clear the Physical Fitness Test (PFT) will be required to undergo Adaptability Test-1 (objective type – written test) to evaluate the suitability of the candidate for Indian Air Force job role which involves deployment in different geographical terrain, climate, and operational circumstances.
Adaptability Test 2: (Applicable for both Group X & Y):
All applicants passing the Adaptability Test -1 must undertake the Adaptability Test-2 in accordance with the current policy. Adaptability Test-2 is designed to select applicants who can adapt to the Indian Air Force setting and adapt to the military lifestyle.
Note: Candidates who clear the selection tests of more than one group / trade-in tests and rallies held during the July 2019 to Jan 2020 cycle and whose names appear in more than one PSLs published on the same date, i.e. 30 April 2019, shall be requested to join only one group/trade in accordance with the IAF requirement.
Candidates qualifying for the Adaptability Test-II will be awarded at the corresponding ASCs with a letter of the medical appointment. It can also be downloaded for medical examination at the designated Medical Boarding Center (MBC) on a specified date under CASB internet portal www.airmenselection.cdac.in. Indian Air Force Medical Team shall conduct the medical examination in accordance with IAF medical norms.
Following are the tests that are conducted during the medical exam:
- Haemoglobin –
- Blood Sugar
- Urea, Uric acid
- X – Ray
- Serum Cholesterol
Some general guidelines that are needed to be taken care of:
- Candidates must mention 5 choices of examination in the order of preference while filling the application form. However, CASB has the right to allot and centre than those mentioned in the application.
- Requests for change of exam date shall not be entertained.
- Duplicate / Incomplete / Applications filled incorrectly shall be dismissed.
- Candidates should be ready to remain under their own agreement for the entire length of the exams. No TA / DA is eligible.
- If a candidate completes all phases of the selection procedure, the upper age limit will be 21 years as on the date of enrolment.
- Candidacy of applicants applying more than once in response to this advertisement shall be rejected.
Provisional Select List (PSL):
The PSL (merit-wise) will be prepared after the completion of the selection test and the same will be on website www.airmenselection.cdac.in on April 30, 2020.
The incorporation of candidate names in the PSL relies on the applicants performance in the selection exam and the same is determined by applying the cut-off marks against the amount of skilled candidates in stage-II testing and expected vacancy.
On 10 June 2020, the list of applicants lastly called for intake 02/2020 will be released. A separate letter of the call shall be sent to the applicants requested for registration.
